Nov 14, 2017: The Hon'ble governor of the state of Nagaland, Sri Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya visited the Capuchin Fathers of St Anne’s Friary, Bejai Jail Road on the 13th of November at 9 a.m.
The guardian of the Friary, Rev Fr Melwyn along with the community members welcomed him and his wife Smt. Kavita Acharya.
It was the service of the Mangalorian Capuchin Priests in Nagaland in the field of education in the neglected villages of the state that made him curious to know more about and discuss with the Mangalorean Capuchins.
The governor is presently in the city for a private celebration and also to pay a visit to the North eastern students studying here in Mangalore.
He appreciated the dedication and zeal of the Religious of Mangalore, Karnataka in Nagaland and discussed about the situation of the interiors villages with the friars who have had their work experience over there in the past.
In his one hour, friendly conversation with the friars he invited many more religious to the state and emphasized on the need of the attention towards the rich and beautiful state of Nagaland and the poor Naga people.
